First Easy Rider Tour in Da Lat: Passenger Questions
You do not have to plan a self-riding adventure to experience Da Lat by motorcycle. On an Easy Rider passenger tour, a local rider handles the motorcycle while you travel behind them. If this is your first trip, the useful questions are about the format, your comfort and the route—not only where to take photographs.

Do I have to ride the motorcycle myself?
No. Our standard Easy Rider passenger arrangement is one guest with their own rider-guide, who drives the motorcycle. You travel behind the rider rather than controlling the bike. Highland Sport Travel also accepts self-riding requests, but these are a different arrangement: the guest must hold an appropriate valid motorcycle driving licence for riding in Vietnam. Tell us which format you want before booking.
Do I need previous motorcycle experience?
You do not need experience controlling a motorcycle to request a passenger tour. You should still consider whether you are comfortable sitting on a motorcycle for the planned stages. Start with a route that fits your confidence and available time. Tell the team if you have concerns about balance, mobility, getting on and off the bike, or spending a long day on the road.
Do I need a driving licence as a passenger?
A passenger booking does not put you in the driver’s position. Do not apply that answer to self-riding: anyone wanting to control a motorcycle must check the current licensing requirements for their nationality and vehicle and obtain operator acceptance. Insurance is a separate question; ask your insurer specifically about motorcycle passenger travel rather than assuming a general holiday policy covers it.
Is a half-day route a sensible first choice?
A shorter countryside outing can help you decide how you feel about this type of travel. Compare it with a full-day route by the actual time on the bike and the stops, not just the number of attractions. Highland Sport Travel lists both half-day and full-day countryside Easy Rider programmes, so you can discuss the pace before choosing.
What should I ask about the motorcycle and helmet?
Ask which motorcycle and helmet will be used for your booking and what rain protection is supplied. Check helmet fit before leaving and tell your rider about discomfort or support needs. The standard passenger service gives each guest their own rider-guide. There is no solo surcharge for the local half-day or full-day passenger programme. Travelling with a guide still involves the normal risks of a motorcycle road journey.
What happens during the first part of the day?
Agree on your pickup or meeting point and allow time for an introduction and briefing. Ask how to communicate if you need a stop or feel uncomfortable. Confirm the agreed visits and return or drop-off arrangement before departure. The exact process should come from the team running your booking rather than from another operator’s website.
Can children or older travellers join?
Suitability cannot be decided from an age label alone, and children may have specific participation requirements. Tell Highland Sport Travel the ages of your group and any relevant needs before booking. Ask about the actual motorcycle, passenger arrangement and route. Do not assume the same conditions apply to a short countryside outing and a multi-day journey.
Why discuss the plan with Highland Sport Travel?
Our Da Lat team organises Easy Rider routes alongside a wider outdoor and adventure programme. The local countryside passenger tour is US$30 per person for a half day or US$45 per person for a full day, with no solo surcharge. These are local Da Lat tour rates, not prices for every intercity route. Admission to the main scheduled sightseeing stops is generally included; meals and accommodation are usually separate, depending on your chosen arrangement. Confirm the exact inclusions for your programme.
