Activities depend on weather, water conditions and your guide’s assessment.
Start your adventure at your hotel. Your guide collects you between 08:00 and 08:15 for the transfer to Datanla basecamp. Leave the city behind and get ready for a day of forest trails, flowing streams and waterfall challenges. The adventure begins with preparation before you enter the canyon.
Learn the ropes before you enter the canyon. Get fitted with your equipment and follow your guide through the basic rope techniques. Practise at least twice at basecamp, with more practice until you have mastered the basics under supervision. Take time to ask questions and build confidence before the first descent.
Step into Datanla’s green heart. Begin the approximately 7km forest-and-stream journey beneath a beautiful old-growth canopy. Follow winding trails and cross streams as the sound of falling water draws you deeper into the canyon. Your first challenge is an 18m abseil: put your basecamp practice into action, following your guide’s instructions.
Experience the canyon from a different angle. The second challenge combines a zipline with abseiling, bringing a fresh burst of excitement to the route. Listen to the briefing, follow your guide through each stage and enjoy the forest-and-water scenery before continuing along the stream towards the natural slides.
Let the stream become your playground. Smooth rock and flowing water create the canyon’s natural slides. Enjoy two or three runs when conditions permit, with your guide choosing how to approach each slide. Sliding together is possible only when water conditions allow and your guide approves.
Take on the 25m waterfall. Continue through the forest to one of the day’s standout challenges: abseiling down a 25m waterfall. Feel the spray and hear the water around you as you descend at the pace directed by your guide. Pause afterwards to enjoy the sense of achievement and the canyon scenery.
Finish with the Washing Machine challenge. Follow the route farther into the canyon for the final rope descent, the Washing Machine. Your guide explains how to approach the challenge and directs each stage. After completing it, hike up through the forest to the road, where your driver meets the group for the return transfer.
Refuel in the forest or back at basecamp. Enjoy lunch in the forest during the adventure, or at basecamp after completing the route, depending on the weather. Meal timing follows the day’s conditions and the progress of your group, giving you a chance to rest and share stories from the waterfalls.
