Da Lat Travel FAQs: 120 Answers Before You Visit

Plan Da Lat with 120 practical answers on transport, Halal meals, sightseeing, SUP, camping, canyoning and Easy Rider, plus links to detailed guides.

Start with the topic that matters to your trip. Open a question for its answer, and use the detailed guides when you want to compare a particular tour. This guide is written for international visitors, including guests from Malaysia, Korea and China. We ask about your actual preferences rather than assuming everyone from one country wants the same holiday.

01 · Before you travel to Vietnam

1. Do I need a visa to visit Vietnam?

Requirements depend on your passport, stay and entry arrangements. Check the Vietnamese Immigration Department or a Vietnamese embassy for your nationality before booking. Do not use another traveller’s visa exemption as proof that it applies to you.

2. Where should I apply for a Vietnam e-visa?

Use the official Immigration Department portal at evisa.gov.vn. Check the official eligibility, instructions and result carefully. Highland Sport Travel tour bookings do not automatically include visa processing.

3. How long must my passport remain valid?

Check the requirements applicable to your nationality, visa and journey with the Vietnamese authorities and airline. Ensure passport details match your bookings and visa. Do not rely on a single validity rule copied from an old blog.

4. Do I need proof of onward travel?

Confirm the documents required for your nationality and entry arrangement with the authorities and airline. Keep accommodation and onward travel information accessible if requested.

5. What documents are needed when travelling with children?

Check each child’s passport and entry requirements, plus any consent documents required for your family circumstances. Ask the airline and relevant authorities before departure.

6. Should I arrange travel insurance?

Check cover for your actual itinerary, including medical assistance and any chosen outdoor activities. Ask the insurer about exclusions and emergency procedures. Tour inclusions and personal travel insurance are different matters.

7. Does ordinary insurance cover Easy Rider or canyoning?

Do not assume it does. Ask your insurer about the exact activity and whether you are a passenger or driver on a motorbike. Request written details of any cover included by the tour operator separately.

8. Can I bring personal medication?

Check current Vietnamese requirements for your particular medicine, especially controlled medication. Seek advice from the relevant authority or qualified clinician and keep the documentation they recommend.

9. Are there arrival declarations I must complete?

Check current official immigration, customs and health instructions for your journey before flying. Requirements can change; your tour confirmation is not a substitute for entry documents.

10. Which apps should I prepare?

Have your airline and accommodation details, offline maps, a translation app and your preferred messaging app available. Save Highland Sport Travel’s number before travelling so you can send pickup details easily.

02 · Money, payments & staying connected

11. Should I exchange money before travelling or after arrival?

Compare the rate, charges and availability from authorised providers. Carry enough usable funds for your arrival transfer and first expenses without carrying more cash than you need.

12. Is airport or city currency exchange better?

Compare the actual rate and fees offered by authorised services. Convenience on arrival may matter more than a small difference; avoid assuming every counter has the same rate.

13. Are there ATMs in Da Lat?

ATMs are available in the city, but do not rely on finding one at a rural attraction or campsite. Check your bank’s withdrawal fees and keep a backup payment method.

14. How much cash should I budget for two or three days?

Separate accommodation, transport, attraction tickets, food and optional activities. Ask us for an itemised quote, then add money for personal purchases. A private-car price per vehicle is different from a tour price per person.

15. Can I use a credit or debit card everywhere?

Acceptance varies by business. Ask before ordering or paying, and carry Vietnamese dong for smaller purchases. Confirm the payment method accepted for your specific tour booking.

16. Can I pay in ringgit, dollars, won or yuan?

Do not assume local shops accept foreign cash. Use the currency agreed in your written booking. If a tour is quoted in USD but paid in VND, confirm the conversion used before payment.

17. Can foreign visitors pay using Vietnamese QR codes?

A displayed QR code does not guarantee compatibility with your bank or wallet. Check your own payment app and the merchant’s accepted methods, and keep a fallback.

18. Should I buy a SIM or an eSIM?

Check your phone’s compatibility, data allowance, identity-registration requirements and coverage for your route. A data-only plan may not provide a local voice number.

19. Is mobile reception reliable at Tuyen Lam Lake and on tour?

Coverage varies with network, terrain and the specific location. Save meeting details and essential information offline. Do not assume continuous reception on forest trails or rural rides.

20. How can I contact Highland Sport Travel?

Use +84 965 331 182 on WhatsApp, KakaoTalk or WeChat. Send your name, dates, hotel and booking reference so we can identify your enquiry. Our WhatsApp link is provided at the end of this guide.

03 · Choosing your Da Lat itinerary

21. Is Da Lat worth including in a first Vietnam trip?

Choose it if cool highland scenery, cafés and outdoor experiences appeal to you. It adds a different style of stay from a beach or big-city itinerary, but allow time for reaching and leaving the city.

22. How is Da Lat different from Nha Trang, Da Nang or Sa Pa?

Compare the experience you want rather than treating these places as interchangeable. Da Lat offers a highland base for countryside outings, lake activities and adventure. Your onward route and available days also matter.

23. Is one day enough in Da Lat?

One usable day can cover a focused introduction or one main tour. Choose your priority instead of trying to combine a full adventure day, distant sightseeing and several cafés.

24. Should I stay for two, three or four days?

Two full sightseeing days allow a short introduction. Three give more room for a weather-dependent morning and a separate lake or countryside experience. Four allow a slower pace or an additional full-day activity. Count usable time: arrival after lunch and departure early in the morning are not full sightseeing days.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat for Malaysian Visitors: 2 or 3 Days & Travel FAQs →

25. What is a practical three-day Da Lat plan?

Give each day a coherent area or purpose. One day can focus on southern Da Lat and Tuyen Lam, another on Ta Nung photo attractions, and another on cloud hunting or a dedicated adventure. If flights occupy part of a day, remove stops rather than assume everything still fits.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat in 3 Days: A Café & Photo Itinerary by Private Car →

26. Is Da Lat better for couples, families or friends?

It can suit all three, depending on pace and interests. Tell us who is travelling and what each person wants so we can balance sightseeing, time sitting down and active experiences.

27. Can I join tours when travelling alone?

Ask about the minimum number for the specific activity. Our standard Easy Rider arrangement is one guest with one guide-rider, without a solo supplement. Other tours may have different group or private-booking conditions.

Read the detailed guide: Solo & Private Easy Rider Tours: Booking Questions →

28. What should I choose when travelling with older parents?

Discuss walking, steps, vehicle comfort and rest breaks before booking. A sightseeing or café day may be preferable to an active programme, depending on the individual. Age alone does not determine suitability.

29. Should I combine Da Lat with Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Ho Chi Minh City?

Choose around your flights, available travel days and preferred finishing point. Easy Rider journeys can be discussed as part of an onward route, but different destinations require different itineraries and quotes.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Easy Rider: Nha Trang, Mui Ne or a Return Loop? →

30. Do arrival and departure days count as full tour days?

Only if the actual timings allow it. Send flight or bus details before booking, leaving time for delays, baggage, check-in and onward travel. Avoid booking a tightly timed connection immediately after a tour.

04 · Weather, clothing & packing

31. What is the best month to visit Da Lat?

Vietnam’s official tourism information describes a cooler highland climate and generally drier conditions around December to March. Choose according to your activities and check the forecast for your dates rather than expecting a guaranteed weather pattern.

32. Is a rainy-season visit worthwhile?

It can be, if your plan is flexible. Leave alternatives for outdoor activities and ask about booking-change terms. A lower price does not help if the itinerary depends on conditions unsuitable for your chosen activity.

33. Does rain last all day?

It varies. Do not assume every rainy-season day is a washout or that rain always stops after a short shower. Use the local forecast and operating team’s assessment.

34. Do I need warm clothing?

Bring a layer for early mornings and evenings, especially for cloud hunting or camping. Pack for the specific activity as well as city sightseeing.

35. What should Malaysian visitors pack for Da Lat?

Bring comfortable sightseeing clothes, a warm layer and a light waterproof layer. Add suitable activity footwear and dry clothes if booking SUP, trekking or camping.

36. Should I bring trainers, trekking shoes or sandals?

Choose footwear for the activity and ground conditions. Ask us about your booked route; shoes suitable for a café day may not suit a wet forest trail or canyoning.

37. What can we do if outdoor sightseeing is affected by rain?

Discuss a lighter city or café plan, depending on venue access and transport availability. An alternative programme or price must be confirmed; it is not automatically interchangeable with an adventure booking.

38. When can I photograph flowers, forest or clouds?

These depend on different seasonal and daily conditions. Ask about current flower displays and the forecast, and choose a trip you will enjoy even if one particular photo opportunity is absent.

39. Should I prebook weather-dependent activities?

Reserve what matters to you after checking the actual change and cancellation terms. Leaving some flexibility in a multi-day stay can help, but moving a booking still depends on availability.

40. Will I receive a refund or a new date if weather is unsuitable?

Ask for the terms applying to your specific booking before payment. The operating decision, postponement, alternative programme and refund conditions must be confirmed; do not assume one policy covers all tours.

05 · Airport transfers & getting around

41. How do I arrange a Lien Khuong Airport transfer?

Send your flight number, arrival date and time, hotel, passenger count and luggage. We can discuss the required vehicle and an airport-transfer quote separate from standard daytime hire.

42. Will the driver wait if my flight is delayed?

Agree flight monitoring, waiting time, meeting point and any extra charges before booking. Send changes as soon as possible; do not assume unlimited waiting is included.

43. Can I go sightseeing straight from the airport?

Yes, ask for a tailored route based on arrival time and luggage. Airport pickup and sightseeing should be itemised in the quote. A late arrival should have fewer stops, not a rushed full-day itinerary.

44. Should we choose a 4-seat or 7-seat vehicle?

Tell us how many guests and bags you have, including large cases and any child-seat needs. The vehicle’s nominal size does not guarantee your group and luggage will fit comfortably.

45. Is private-car hire priced per person or per vehicle?

Our published rates are per vehicle: VND 1,000,000–1,200,000 per day for a 4-seat car and VND 1,200,000–1,400,000 for a 7-seat car. Confirm actual capacity, route and written inclusions. Attraction tickets, meals, hotels and airport transfers are separate unless stated.

46. Are there time and distance limits on the car day?

Standard day hire is 07:30–17:00, up to 100 km per day. Pre-dawn departures, evening service and additional distance need a separately confirmed quote. Agree the route and confirm fuel, parking, tolls and any applicable taxes in writing before booking.

47. Can I rely on Grab at rural attractions?

Availability and waiting times can vary outside the centre. For a remote pickup or a fixed appointment, arrange the return plan in advance rather than assuming a car will immediately be available.

48. What can I do after arriving by an early sleeper bus?

Arrange hotel luggage storage, early check-in or a suitable meeting point ahead of time. Rest, showers and immediate tour participation depend on the actual service booked and its availability.

49. How should I travel from Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Ho Chi Minh City?

Compare road time, comfort, luggage and your overall itinerary. Send the actual starting and ending locations; private transfers, buses and Easy Rider travel are different products.

50. Can my tour finish at an airport, bus station or another hotel?

Request the exact location and required arrival time before booking. We need to check the route, schedule and any extra charge. Do not assume a distant drop-off is included in city-centre hotel transport.

06 · Accommodation & practical comfort

51. Should I stay near the night market or Tuyen Lam Lake?

Choose the city centre for an urban base or the lake area for a quieter setting. Compare the travel required for meals, shopping and your booked tour pickups before deciding.

52. Does staying outside the centre affect tour pickup?

It can. Send the full hotel address, not just its name. Pickup areas and surcharges differ by activity; a remote hotel may require a separate transfer or an agreed meeting point.

53. Where should I stay if I need Halal dining nearby?

Check the exact restaurant location and current arrangements before choosing a hotel. A property described as centrally located does not guarantee an easy walk or suitable meals.

54. Can I check into a hotel early after a night bus?

Ask the property directly about availability and any early check-in charge. A normal room booking does not guarantee access at dawn.

55. Can I leave luggage at the hotel and start a tour?

Confirm hotel storage and the tour pickup time in advance. Keep valuables and essential items with you according to your own arrangements.

56. Can I shower or change after a tour before departure?

Ask about the facilities for your selected tour and finishing point. Any available basecamp or campsite shower is a basic facility, not a promise of a hotel room or private bathroom.

57. Does my hotel need air conditioning?

That is a personal comfort choice. Check the actual room facilities, ventilation and your travel dates rather than assuming all Da Lat hotels provide the same setup.

58. Should a group book a villa or hotel rooms?

Compare room sharing, bathrooms, luggage storage, breakfast, access and pickup location. A low headline room rate may not reflect the space or arrangements your group needs.

59. Can you quote accommodation together with tours and transport?

Send dates, room count, preferred sharing and a budget. A combined proposal needs specific availability and inclusions; our standard day-tour and car rates do not automatically include hotels.

60. Are breakfast, taxes and room supplements included?

Check the room and package conditions in writing. Single occupancy, extra beds, early check-in and special dates can have different terms.

07 · Food, Halal requirements & meal planning

61. What Halal dining options are available in Da Lat?

Ask us to discuss meal stops for your route, then confirm the actual restaurant’s current arrangements. Availability varies by location and time. If certification is essential to you, request current evidence from the food provider before confirming the meal.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

62. How can I verify a restaurant’s Halal status?

Ask the restaurant about current certification, ingredients, meat sourcing, preparation and alcohol as relevant to your requirements. A review or a “Muslim-friendly” description is not the same as checking the actual food arrangements.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

63. Are vegetarian food and “no pork” automatically Halal?

No. These labels answer different questions. Ingredients, sauces, alcohol and preparation can also matter. Explain your requirements before booking rather than assuming a standard tour meal meets them.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

64. Can prayer breaks fit into a tour?

Request the breaks you need while planning. A practical route with fewer rushed stops makes this easier. Confirm the proposed location and time; neither a private car nor a tour booking automatically includes a dedicated prayer space.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

65. Can I confirm prayer and washing facilities beforehand?

Yes, ask which specific venue will be used and whether the facilities are available at your visit time. We need to verify arrangements with that venue rather than promise facilities at every attraction or campsite.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

66. Can we organise a Halal BBQ at the campsite?

Discuss this before booking. A standard SUN Forest BBQ must not be assumed Halal. Sourcing, ingredients, preparation and utensils need confirmation with the actual provider. If arrangements cannot meet your requirements, agree an alternative meal plan before paying.

Read the detailed guide: Muslim-Friendly Da Lat: Activities, Meals & Prayer FAQs →

67. Can you arrange vegetarian meals or accommodate food allergies?

Send the details and seriousness of your requirements in advance. We will discuss what the actual meal provider can accommodate. Do not assume that removing one ingredient eliminates cross-contact or makes every menu suitable.

68. Are mild dishes or children’s meals available?

Ask before the programme is confirmed. Meal choices and portions depend on the provider and selected option; tell us children’s ages and any foods they avoid.

69. Can I bring my own food?

Check the rules for the particular attraction, tour or campsite, including storage, waste and any charge. Permission at one place does not automatically apply to every stop.

70. Does the tour price include meals, drinks and coffee?

It depends on the product. Check each item in your written booking. Easy Rider day-tour meals and drinks are normally separate; a campsite, SUP session or sightseeing ticket does not automatically include a BBQ or café order.

08 · Sightseeing, cafés & photo stops

71. Which places should I prioritise on a first Da Lat visit?

Choose one main interest each day: city sights and cafés, Tuyen Lam Lake, Ta Nung photo attractions or an adventure programme. Highland Sport Travel can combine these across your stay rather than filling every day with unrelated stops.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat in 3 Days: A Café & Photo Itinerary by Private Car →

72. Which photo stops can be combined on the same route?

Group destinations geographically. Ta Nung attractions suit a western outing, Cau Dat and Trai Mat an eastern plan, and Datanla with Tuyen Lam a southern direction. The actual combination still depends on opening times, walking and the driving limit.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat in 3 Days: A Café & Photo Itinerary by Private Car →

73. What is Mongo Land and how much time should I allow?

It is a sightseeing and activity stop known for colourful photo areas and its rainbow-slide experience. Leave enough time for entry, photographs and queues. Confirm ticket inclusions and participation rules for your date rather than assuming every activity is covered.

Read the detailed guide: Mongo Land Da Lat: Rainbow Slide & Day Trip Ideas →

74. Should I choose The Florest for flowers or activities?

Choose it primarily for its flower-and-forest setting and a slower outdoor visit. Displays vary by season. Ask about current conditions and any separately offered activities if those are important to your trip.

Read the detailed guide: The Florest Da Lat: Flowers, Forest Views & a Ta Nung Day →

75. How is Mario Kart different from the Alpine Coaster?

They are different attractions, with different vehicles, courses, rules and tickets. Our Top Three Attractions programme can include both as optional paid activities, but booking the programme does not mean their tickets are included.

Read the detailed guide: Mario Kart Da Lat or Alpine Coaster: Which to Choose? →

76. What is included in Top Three Attractions?

The half-day programme combines Datanla Alpine Coaster, Mario Kart at Dalat Flower Highlands and Mongo Land. The published rate is VND 650,000 per guest, including transport, guide and Mongo Land admission. Alpine Coaster and Mario Kart tickets are extra. Confirm pickup, departure time and the attractions’ current conditions.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Three Waterfalls or Top Three Attractions: Which Tour? →

77. How does Three Waterfalls differ from Top Three Attractions?

Three Waterfalls focuses on Datanla, Pongour and Elephant Waterfall, with access confirmed for the date. Top Three Attractions focuses on rides and colourful sightseeing. Neither is the same as canyoning. Choose according to scenery, activity interest, walking needs and available time.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Three Waterfalls or Top Three Attractions: Which Tour? →

78. Which café should I choose for views or photographs?

Decide whether you want a garden, a Japanese-inspired city café, a wide viewpoint or coffee learning. Choose one or two compatible stops rather than crossing the city repeatedly. Confirm the exact branch and current entrance pin.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat in 3 Days: A Café & Photo Itinerary by Private Car →

79. Can I hire a car and choose my own attractions?

Yes, send your shortlist before confirming. We will check route, time and distance against the agreed service. Tickets, drinks and additional activities are separate unless your written quote includes them.

80. Can you include the night market or a sunset café?

Ask for an evening arrangement. Standard car hire ends at 17:00; later transport needs a separately confirmed quote. Sunset visibility, venue access and event schedules are not guaranteed.

09 · Cloud hunting & sunrise experiences

81. What is cloud hunting in Da Lat?

It is an early outing to a viewpoint for the possibility of seeing low cloud beneath the surrounding hills. Some programmes use a café viewpoint; others involve walking. Confirm the actual experience instead of booking by the phrase alone.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Cloud Hunting or Sunrise SUP: Which Should You Book? →

82. How is Cau Dat cloud hunting different from a Tuyen Lam sunrise?

Cau Dat is a hill-view experience; Tuyen Lam sunrise focuses on lake reflections and possible mist. A sea of clouds and mist over water are different conditions. SUP also adds a guided water activity with its own suitability requirements.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Cloud Hunting or Sunrise SUP: Which Should You Book? →

83. How early do we leave for cloud hunting?

The pickup depends on date, hotel and the selected programme. Confirm it before booking. A pre-dawn departure is outside our standard 07:30 car-day start and requires the relevant sunrise-tour or separate transport arrangement.

84. Does cloud hunting require trekking?

Not every programme does. Ask about walking distance, ground, steps and elevation change for the exact option. A café viewpoint and a short hiking tour should not be advertised as interchangeable.

85. Is seeing a sea of clouds guaranteed?

No. Cloud formation, rain and visibility vary. Choose a programme you can enjoy for the scenery and early-morning atmosphere as well as the chance of clouds. We do not promise the exact scene shown in a promotional photograph.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Cloud Hunting or Sunrise SUP: Which Should You Book? →

86. Can children and older guests join?

Send ages, walking ability and relevant concerns. We need to discuss the actual route and early start; there is no blanket suitability promise for every guest.

87. Does a cloud-hunting tour include breakfast and coffee?

Check the selected option. A viewpoint ticket, car transfer and guided hiking programme can have different inclusions. Ask for food and drinks to be listed explicitly, including any dietary arrangement.

88. Can we continue sightseeing after sunrise?

Potentially, but allow breakfast and rest. Agree the next route and vehicle hours in advance. Do not assume a sunrise booking includes a full day of transport afterwards.

89. Should I choose cloud hunting or sunrise SUP?

Choose a viewpoint if the main appeal is a hill panorama; choose SUP if you want to participate in a guided lake activity. Tell us swimming ability, confidence, walking needs and priorities. On a longer stay you can discuss separate mornings rather than trying to do both at once.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Cloud Hunting or Sunrise SUP: Which Should You Book? →

90. What happens if there are no clouds?

Lack of clouds is different from conditions being unsuitable to operate. Check the selected booking’s terms for each situation before payment; a refund or alternative programme is not automatically triggered by a different view.

10 · SUP, kayaking & Tuyen Lam camping

91. Can a complete beginner join SUP?

Tell us it is your first time. We can discuss a guided half-day session with instruction and practice appropriate to the group. Progress and the route depend on the guide’s assessment and conditions; standing for a photograph is not the goal that determines participation.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam SUP for First-Timers: Swimming & Clothing FAQs →

92. Can I join SUP or kayaking if I cannot swim?

Explain swimming ability and water confidence before paying. A buoyancy aid does not replace a suitability assessment or remove water risks. The team needs to discuss the activity with you and confirm an appropriate arrangement rather than give automatic approval through a general FAQ.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam SUP for First-Timers: Swimming & Clothing FAQs →

93. Should I choose a SUP board or a kayak?

Discuss balance, confidence, experience and the available equipment with us. A kayak may feel different from a SUP, but neither is automatically suitable for every guest. Availability and any change in price must be confirmed.

Read the detailed guide: SUP or Kayak on Tuyen Lam Lake: Choose Your Session →

94. Will I receive instructions before going onto the lake?

For a guided activity, the team explains the equipment and the plan before the outing. Ask what instruction and practice your booking includes. Follow the guide’s decisions about where and how the group proceeds.

95. Must I stand on a SUP?

Do not feel pressured to stand just to copy an image. Ask the guide about positions appropriate to your session and progress at the pace agreed with them.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam SUP for First-Timers: Swimming & Clothing FAQs →

96. Can I wear modest clothing for paddling?

Tell us your preferred clothing in advance. It must allow movement and work with the activity equipment; loose fabric or accessories can cause problems. Let the guide assess suitability and bring dry clothes. Ask about changing facilities rather than assuming a hotel-style room.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam SUP for First-Timers: Swimming & Clothing FAQs →

97. Can we paddle to Suoi Tia?

Discuss this as a preferred route, not a guaranteed inclusion. Conditions, group ability, operating decisions and access affect the route and timing. Confirm the exact meeting point and booked programme before arrival.

98. What facilities are available for camping?

At our SUN Forest area, available tent arrangements can include blankets, pillows and mattresses. There are three basic toilets and a basic hot shower. Confirm your actual package and sharing arrangements. This is an outdoor campsite, so ask about access and comfort requirements before booking.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam Lake Camping: Family Comfort, BBQ & Booking FAQs →

99. Can I visit just for coffee or a picnic?

Yes, ask about the day-visit arrangement. Coffee is around VND 90,000 per cup including site access. Picnic, BBQ, SUP, kayak hire and camping are separate services unless explicitly bundled in your booking.

Read the detailed guide: SUN Forest Tuyen Lam Lake: Coffee & a Lakeside Day →

100. Can you combine SUP, BBQ and camping for our group?

We can discuss a tailored programme at our SUN Forest area. Send dates, numbers, ages, tent sharing, transport and dietary needs. The quote should distinguish guided activities, food, equipment and overnight arrangements; reserving a camping space alone does not include all of them.

Read the detailed guide: Tuyen Lam Lake Camping: Family Comfort, BBQ & Booking FAQs →

11 · Canyoning at Datanla

101. What is canyoning, and how is it different from visiting a waterfall?

Canyoning is an organised adventure involving rope techniques and water-based challenges along a canyon route. Our Datanla programme combines approximately 7 km of forest and streams with abseiling, zipline, natural slides and waterfall challenges. A waterfall sightseeing ticket is not a canyoning booking.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Canyoning Itinerary: From Basecamp to the Forest →

102. Can I join without previous abseiling experience?

Tell us you are a beginner. At basecamp, guests practise the basic technique at least twice and continue under the guide’s supervision until ready for the route. Previous experience alone does not determine suitability; discuss fitness, water confidence and relevant concerns before booking.

Read the detailed guide: Canyoning in Da Lat: Prices, Route & First-Time Guide →

103. Do we practise before entering the canyon?

Yes. The programme begins with equipment preparation, instructions and at least two practice rounds. The team decides when you are ready to progress. Training is part of the activity, not a guarantee that every person can complete every challenge.

104. Do I need to swim, and how fit should I be?

The route includes forest walking, uneven ground and water activities. Explain your swimming ability, confidence and relevant health or mobility concerns before payment. The team needs enough information to discuss suitability; we do not approve participation based only on a general fitness label.

Read the detailed guide: Canyoning in Da Lat: Prices, Route & First-Time Guide →

105. What challenges are included in the Datanla route?

The planned sequence is basecamp practice, an 18 m abseil, a zipline-and-abseiling challenge, natural slides, a 25 m waterfall abseil and the Washing Machine, connected by forest and stream sections. Slides may be repeated when conditions allow. Lunch can be in the forest or at basecamp, depending on the day.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Canyoning Itinerary: From Basecamp to the Forest →

106. What if I am afraid of heights or want to skip a challenge?

Tell us before booking and again during the briefing. Ask which alternatives are actually possible on that route. Do not assume every obstacle has an easy bypass or that someone can independently leave the group from any point.

107. Can children join canyoning?

Send the child’s age, height, swimming ability and relevant concerns before booking. Participation depends on the programme’s requirements, equipment and assessment. A family enquiry is not automatic approval for every child.

108. How do I confirm guides, equipment and insurance?

Ask for the details relevant to your booking: operating team, equipment, supervision arrangements and any included cover and exclusions. Separately check your personal travel policy for canyoning. Do not treat general marketing terms as proof of a particular certification or insurance benefit.

109. What should I wear for canyoning?

Sportswear or suitable swimwear can be worn under the provided wetsuit. Running shoes or aqua shoes may be suitable; company shoes are available, subject to fit. Confirm footwear and equipment needs before the day, and bring dry clothes for afterwards.

110. Can I combine canyoning with SUP or overnight camping?

Yes, ask about a confirmed combo. One two-day option combines Samson trekking, lake activities and SUN Forest camping, followed by a transfer for canyoning the next day. Confirm transport, meals, tent sharing, guide services and activity suitability. Standard canyoning pickup is around 08:00–08:15, with the actual hotel arrangement confirmed.

12 · Easy Rider motorbike tours

111. Do I ride behind a guide or drive myself?

Our standard Easy Rider service is one guest as a passenger with one guide-rider. You do not control the bike. Self-riding is a separate request and needs checks of documents, experience and the actual vehicle arrangement.

Read the detailed guide: First Easy Rider Tour in Da Lat: Passenger Questions →

112. Can I join as a passenger without motorbike experience?

You do not need to know how to operate the bike to ask about a passenger tour. Tell us about confidence and any relevant concerns so we can discuss suitability. A passenger booking and a self-ride booking have different requirements.

Read the detailed guide: First Easy Rider Tour in Da Lat: Passenger Questions →

113. Should I choose a half-day or full-day Easy Rider tour?

Half day is a shorter introduction; full day leaves more room for countryside riding and stops. Our published rates are US$30 per guest for half day and US$45 per guest for full day. Confirm the actual route, riding time and finishing point rather than assuming every stop fits either option.

Read the detailed guide: Da Lat Easy Rider: Half Day or Full Day? A Booking Guide →

114. Is there a supplement for solo guests?

There is no solo supplement for our standard one-guest, one-guide-rider arrangement. Confirm whether the overall itinerary is private or travels alongside other riders. Multi-day room sharing or special arrangements should be checked separately.

Read the detailed guide: Solo & Private Easy Rider Tours: Booking Questions →

115. What is included in the Easy Rider price?

Each guest has a guide-rider and motorbike. Normal sightseeing entrance fees on the agreed programme are generally included; optional paid activities need confirmation. Day-tour meals, drinks and hotels are separate. For our Cat Tien programmes, accommodation is included and meals are excluded; ask for an itemised quote for the selected route.

Read the detailed guide: Easy Rider Tour Prices in Da Lat: Routes & What to Compare →

116. What happens to my backpack or suitcase?

Small luggage can usually be secured behind the motorbike. Send bag size, type and number before confirming. Large cases, storage or separate luggage delivery require an agreed arrangement and may cost extra. Ask about rain protection and do not assume a support vehicle.

Read the detailed guide: Easy Rider Vietnam: Luggage, Packing & Rain Questions →

117. What if it rains or I feel uncomfortable on the motorbike?

Tell the team your concerns before booking. Route or timing changes depend on conditions and the agreed terms. A motorbike booking does not automatically convert into a car at the same price; stop arrangements and alternatives need confirmation.

Read the detailed guide: Easy Rider or Private Car in Da Lat? Questions Answered →

118. Which route should I choose: Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Cat Tien or a loop?

Start with your final destination and available days. Coastal routes and a forest-focused Cat Tien journey provide different experiences; a return loop is useful when you need to finish in Da Lat. Cat Tien is US$220 per guest for two days or US$315 for three days, including accommodation but excluding meals.

119. What is required if I want to self-ride?

Highland Sport Travel accepts self-ride enquiries only with appropriate riding documents and experience. Confirm which documents are legally recognised in Vietnam for your nationality and vehicle, and check insurance. Possessing a home-country licence alone should not be assumed sufficient. Obtain current guidance before committing.

120. Can part of our group ride while others travel by car?

Ask for a tailored plan. Separate vehicles, staffing, stops and meeting times need coordination and a combined quote. This can suit different preferences in one group, but a support car is not automatically included with Easy Rider.
